A blog raises the amount of possible connections and readers one can get. On a social network you are slightly more limited on amount of people you can reach.

It seems that people resort to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace which do provide them with the same things as a blog does as well. Everyone should have a blog but in today's majority. I do think everyone should have their own blog since they will have the no borders towards limitations. It seems that people resort to social network due to the fact that their friends are on there and it connects with them instantly. So basically it saves them the time of "advertising".
